If there was one underlying principle of God it is this —  Listen, Heed, and then DO what we have heard when we hear it . That inner voice telling us what we should do is our conscience which comes from the Latin “conscientia” which means “a joint knowledge of something,” where your spirit intersects with God’s spirit. As today’s verse promises, when we heed that voice, it will always reward us , but failure to do so or putting it off will have a consequence. Years ago I was planning on taking a long distance trip in my car, but noticed that it was leaking a little radiator fluid from the water pump. My inner voice told me to get it fixed before I left, but I delayed and decided to get it repaired at my destination. Well sure enough Delayed Obedience is DISOBEDIENCE and the water pump failed along the way resulting in an even bigger repair and a costly delay.   Each day we hear between twenty and thirty thousand words; and when adding what we READ that number is even greater. But why is this important - or should you even care? You see, when Jesus said to be careful regarding WHAT you hear, it also means HOW you hear because what you receive will have either a postive or negative effect on your life. For example, have you noticed how many four-letter words and using God’s name and the name of Christ indescriminately have steadily crept into modern communication? We see and hear these continually in movies, videos, TV programs and and now are also casually embedded as adjectives on once respected news web sites. We used to call them 'Cuss Words' but the word origin of CUSS is actually CURSE . To CURSE means to Degrade, Offend, Cause Pain or Call Upon An Evil Supernatural Power intended to inflict harm .  It is not uncommon today to see stories of people openly — and even brazenly —  Behaving Badly . Sex scandals by celebrities, politicians caught in cover-ups and corruption, or even those infamous selfish ‘Karen’ videos of people that thought they brazenly had the right to do, say, or act anyway they want — regardless of any consequence. An egregious example of this is the prostitute in Proverbs 30:20 where after finishing her day’s work it says “She eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness .” From her point of view — and others with the same perspective of their deeds — there is NO accountability, there is NO judge, there is NO “Final Judgement” therefore these is NO “ Call To Account ” The Hebrew word here for “account” is Darash which means ‘to diligently inquire, question, or search’ something.   Did you know that it is possible to give a gift to youself? When we carefully recite the “Lord’s Prayer” there is a sure blessing that is openly hidden in it, but only when we do two essential things. You see, God and His Word is a guide that always follows a path that leads FROM Danger and Destruction TO Safety and Salvation. This is why Jesus said in John 17:15 — “My prayer is to NOT to take them (believers) OUT of this world but keep them safe FROM the evil one. And this is why he never, ever leads us INTO temptation and delivers us away FROM the 'evil' ways in the world. So the first thing is to not walk through The Door Of Temptation, and the second thing is to always be lead to go through The Door Of Blessing, and this is a door that can only be opened by those that Listen To His Voice and are continually Lead By It.  If you think about it, every time we do something bad, we justify it first in our mind. It may be something innocent, like cheating on your diet (‘one piece of cake won’t hurt’) or cheating on your spouse (we have no love in our marriage anyway, don’t I have a right to feel and be loved?!?) But regardless of the offense, there’s that ‘little voice’ whispering in your ear that what you’re doing is not that bad is it?!? You see, when it gets down to it, we also often fall for the same lie that Satan said to Eve by justifying that our little indiscretion really isn’t wrong. For some today it’s often justified under the banner ‘ God Is LOVE and he wants you to be happy, so just follow your heart and Love and that’s all you need.’ Truth Is Not Justified By Feelings Friend, be aware of this little scheme.
