 Everyone is in a hurry these days, and while people are rushing to and fro, they may want to reconsider the direction they’re heading instead of how fast they are going. The reality is that we are all rushing to one final destination, and that is that is —  life as we know it is going to end at some point . Instead, we’re rushing down the street of life without considering how important it is to safely arrive at our FINAL DESTINATION . The prophet Amos reminded the Jews how God miraculously saved them from the Egyptians escaping through the Red Sea, yet in the years following were ‘swift of foot’ to make haste in their own direction — instead of moving towards God. Friend, are you laying skid marks rushing towards things you think are important? If so consider it’s not how fast or how much you do in this life that is important, but setting your heart on where you are going and how you are going to get there. Christ is the way.  What do you want ADDED most to your life? Many might think that a brand new car, a better house, a fabulous wardrobe, or a luxurious vacation will satisfy and while all these would be an enjoyable ‘happening’ in that moment, but once that moment passes… Then What? The problem with fun, exciting, expensive things or events is that as nice as they are, they only last for a limited period of time — and then there is an end to it. It might be a new love affair, partying, or doing something exciting — or even dangerous — or any number of other treks down a road seeking happiness, but once that moment of ‘Happiness’ concludes, where does that road take you? Our search in life for satisfaction places all of us at a crossroad of CHOICES. Either we choose treks for HAPPINESS or a trek for TRUTH .  In the blockbuster adventure movie, “Raiders Of The Lost Ark,” Indiana Jones scoured the world for the fabled ‘Ark of the Covenant,’ however once he found it he was thwarted by evil enemies seeking the same prize, and in the end lost it again to a burial of bureaucracy. Whether you realize it or not, you also are on a treasure hunt seeking the desire of your heart. It could be being accepted to a particular college, finding the perfect spouse, landing that huge job, or having great business, financial, or social success, but even if you do get what you hoped for — like the ark which was wheeled away to obscurity — whatever you had so desperately longed for will eventually pass away. However like the ancient ark of Israel, there is a treasure that is more precious than anything in the world, but just as the nemesis that were continually seeking Indiana Jones’ demise, there is an enemy that also seeks to keep you from ever finding this priceless treasure, and that is your ETERNAL SA...

  ‘THE DOOR’ that Jesus is speaking about here is the entrance to heaven and eternal life. We all have an opportunity to go through that door, but for a variety of reasons some do not choose to do so. Some say, ‘I don’t believe that door goes anywhere I want to go’, or ‘I’m going to go through a different door’, or best (or worst yet!) ‘I’ll go one day (… but I have plenty of time.) ’ However as today’ scripture says, some will come to the door too late and then it will be closed and locked. At that point the worst thing that you can hear when knocking and pleading outside the door to eternal life is Christ to walk away and say I DON’T KNOW YOU!  I was at Starbucks this morning looking forward to enjoying a large black Pike Place coffee and lemon pound cake. It was a perfect day to sit out on the patio but all the tables were full except one by the sidewalk. Eagerly getting there, I found out why because it was sadly filthy with wadded up napkins, discarded coffee lids and a line of some sticky liquid mixed with crumbs. Grabbing a wad of napkins it only took just a few seconds to wipe everything clean and toss it all into the trash. In the Boy Scouts were we were taught to ’always leave somewhere cleaner than we found it” and it would not have taken that much effort for the previous patrons to have done the same. This got me thinking — “Why didn’t they take the time to do that?” And it also raised another question of “What were those people taught to act this way?” which led to an even bigger question of “How are people taught To Live Their Lives? ” In today”s anything-goes world, it seems that most people make up their o...

 Mark Twain once said, “I have spent most of my life worrying about things that never happened.” So the question is…“Are you a worrier? ” We all are to some extent, but some of us can go to extremes from distress to distraught in 5 seconds. Let’s take a look at it. Worrying is a great thief of time. It’s always the worst possible thing that comes to mind. One of the reasons we worry is because we feel powerless to control our future. So instead of escalating into a spiral frenzy that can ruin an entire day for yourself and those around you, Stop yourself in mid-flight and have a conversation with your inner spirit. When you first desire to find the peace (which is a must to remove your anxiety) ask a Blessing over your circumstances whatever they are, Believe there is an answer and Claim God’s help even before it’s given. Then you are opening yourself to receive the solution. Worrying about the future robs you of the present moment, so observe how much worrying you do as worry...

 Kathryn Kuhlman was a powerful Christian evangelist who over several decades preached, healed and transformed the lives of many. She is regarded by some as the greatest female Christian minister of the 20th century. While her life and what she spoke over the years was remarkable, in her final days what she also spoke was even more remarkable and thought provoking. While hospitalized and accelerating quickly to a fateful end, she predicted not only the day she would die, but also the precise hour and minute . As she prophesized, it was at exactly 1:13 AM on February 20, 1976. If you think about it, 1:13 AM is One Out Of 1,440 Minutes That We All Sweep Through Each Day and just like on the second hand of a clock, One Of Those Minutes will be the precise minute when all of us will pass from the HERE to the HEREAFTER .  What does it mean to ‘Stand’ or to ‘Take A Stand?’ In life, all of us also chose to ‘take a stand’ FOR or AGAINST something, be it one team over another, one political party over another, or one ideology over another. Between each of these there is always a line of CONTENTION and CHOICE , and people make a decision to ‘take a stand’ and be on one side of that line or another. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Judas crossed the line and changed his stand from the side with Christ to the side against him. Likewise, just as Judas made a decision and stood with those that opposed Jesus, you also (whether you realize it or not) are standing on one side of this same line or another.  The longer we are alive in this life, there are odds of really bad things that may happen. Many dangers are avoidable, some are completely random, while certain events are impossible to escape. Consider these odds of dying: In A Plane Crash: 1 in 11,000,000 From A Cataclysmic Storm: 1 in 58,869 By Choking on Food: 1 in 2,535 In A Motor Vehicle Crash: 1 in 107 From Cancer: 1 in 7 Through Heart Disease: 1 in 6 But consider this fact… CHANCE OF DEATH: 1 in 1 As ominous as that statistic is, there is another statistical odd that is actually WORSE than that: Chance OF BEING SEPEARATED FROM GOD FOREVER: 1 in 2 You see, everyone will die — and we all know that- the question you have to ask yourself are you going to beat the “1 in 2” odds that you will spend eternity in a place that is not heaven? Driving across the USA is always an adventure! I’ve had the pleasure of doing it three times, but one particular moment was an east-west trip when crossing out of Texas into New Mexico. Immediately after crossing the state line was a large billboard recruiting the need for state troopers to patrol stretches of vast highways like the one I was on that seemed to melt into infinity before me. With no cars in sight and NO ONE WAS WATCHING as far as I could see the opportunity to greatly accelerate to over twice the limit was too easy an opportunity to pass up. This raises an interesting question for all of us and that is “How do we 'Behave' when no one is watching?” The answer is that it all depends on whether we BELIEVE someone is WATCHING...and this is exactly what today’s scripture verse is saying.    The famous American anthropologist Margaret Mead was once asked if she believed in U.F.O.s. and she said: “It’s a silly question. Belief has to do with matters of faith; it has nothing to do with the kind of knowledge that is based on scientific inquiry. Do people believe in the sun or the moon, or the changing seasons, or the chairs they’re sitting on?” Like Dr. Mead, many people substitute 'U.F.O.s' with 'God' and come to the same result that having a mere  belief  in something is no substitute for rigorous academic scientific inquiry.  For decades people have had been captivated about the sinking of the TITANIC. Although this disaster happened over 100 years ago there has been an endless stream of books, articles, and movies made on this famous ship and the souls lost in the ensuing tragedy. The question however is WHY are people continually fascinated by this ship — and the reason why is history repeating itself. The Titanic was in one sense a modern day version of the Tower of Babel — that is, an achievement of such stupendous accomplishment that promised safety from aquatic danger while also boasting the brilliance of man. Those that created and sailed on Titanic were proud of it’s touted invincibility, and just like the builders of the ancient Tower of Babel boasted that another great flood would never overcome it, the Titanic builders also boasted no water could ever sink it.  “Lest” is an archaic but very relevant word that always warns of pending trouble. It’s a useful conjunction of CAUTION between the possibility of either Safety or Danger , so depending on which side of the ‘Lest’ you are standing always determines one of those two outcomes. Lest is mentioned over two hundred times in scripture, and Adam and Eve were the first to find out the consequence of being on the wrong side of “Lest”  — not only to themselves — but to the FALL of the entire world cast into sin. Such is the seriousness of this word when used in scripture! The Bible gives numerous examples of LEST, and Jesus not only warned us about this, but also gave the solution when he said “Watch ye and pray, LEST ye enter into temptation.” When we are reading God’s Word consistently and praying for guidance, this acts just like a large road sign warning us of the “Lest” danger ahead — which if ignored — always leads to a great FALL.  We’ve all seen a police drama where a criminal is brought into an interrogation room with the hope that he’ll admit to the crime he committed. After hours of questioning and presenting evidence of wrongdoing, one of two things would happen. Either he’d adamantly continue to DENY that he was not at fault or finally break down and CONFESS that he was guilty. The word “Confess” has an interesting etymological origin in that it is composed of two words of “con” meaning ‘with’ and “fateri” meaning ‘acknowledge, know, declare or admit the validity of’ something. So when we confess we are saying that what we have done is wrong. As today’s verse tells us, we need to admit — that is CONFESS — before God that we are guilty of our sins, and for certain we ALL are guilty of something! However, unlike those that admit their crimes to the police will certainly go to PRISON, those that confess their crimes before God with a contrite heart go to ETERNAL LIFE because Romans 10:10 promises us...

Years ago when listening on old radios it required carefully 'TUNING' precisely onto the right frequency. When you did the signal would come in strong or you’d hear a lot of static. Then as you drove further away from the broadcast tower, the signal would become so weak that eventually you couldn’t hear it at all. It wasn’t the station’s fault! You just moved away from the signal. Moving AWAY from what God is saying to you works exactly the same way. You see, God has been broadcasting His message to you all your life, but with all the other distractions of static in our modern world His voice is easy to miss. So the question is can you hear what He is saying, or are you moving away from Him so far that you cannot hear what He is saying to you?  When people hear the word Repent they often wince, cringe, and roll their eyes. To many folks this word is offensive in that it implies an unnecessary need to grovel about how bad they are and make some emotional demonstration publicly about their faults and failures. Instead most people it’s natural to think that overall by nature they are a ‘Good Person’ and there is therefore No Need To Repent About Anything . On the contrary, the word ‘REPENT’ when translated from Greek is defined to literally mean TO CHANGE ONE’S MIND . But change your mind about WHAT? It means to change your mind about going the way that seems natural to you — the way which you have always gone —  which is going away from God and continuing to REPEAT doing the same things you’ve always done over and over again.  Walking around Rio de Janeiro as a young man in the Navy was exciting! The beaches, city and weather were absolutely beautiful and it was easy to get distracted by so much to see. Glancing across a wide boulevard jutting above the yacht harbor was “Sugarloaf” mountain and when the light turned green, I hurriedly stepped off the curb to cross the street to get a closer look. No sooner than I did, a little Fiat going about 60 miles an hour ran the stop light, but the strong hand of my weightlifting Navy buddy snatched me by the collar and violently yanked me back off my feet as the car clipped the curb - my flailing shoe lightly brushing the car’ side view mirror as the car raced by. My friend 'Rack' scolded me saying, “They don’t obey traffic lights down here son! When no one’s coming they just GO!” I certainly would have been killed if my shipmate had not literally had my back. Staying in the middle lane going down the road of life is easy as long as you don’t have to make a decision about ‘religion,’ ‘faith,’ or ‘god.’ As long as there’s road ahead of you and you’re still moving along, there’s no reason to change lanes…that is, until that neutral middle-of-the-road lane ends. Then the question is —  “Will I be taking the left exit or the right exit?” Is this you? Are you driving down the road of your life in that uncommitted center lane, never having made up your mind or even seriously thinking at one point that comfortable “I don’t have to choose” lane is still available? Here is a Real-World Warning that you Cannot Afford To Ignore! That seeming endless road of life WILL end, and it is up to you to decide when it ends which exit you will take. No one sends you to one exit or another, you will either Consciously or Un-Consciously make that choice. Friend, please make that choice before it is too late, or You Will Be LEFT BEHIND .
