When people speak the truth in a hostile world there can be a price to pay. In today’s scripture excerpt, Stephen, “…a man full of faith” (Acts 6:5) was selected by the growing church in Jerusalem to speak out against the popular religious and political leaders in authority. Despite his detailed, impassioned, articulate and truthful exposition of God’s Word, as today’s verse sadly records, they closed their minds or hearts to the truth of God’s Word and instead responded by attacking him with angry screams and publicly killing him in front of the city. Stephen was the first Christian MARTYR , but this word is not defined just by someone subjected to criticism, persecution, or even death. In the original language 'martyr' means 'to be a legal witness to something or someone that is true.' Interestingly enough the end result of martyrdom - just as with Stephen and the early church - instead was to greatly MULTIPLY the truth of the Gospel and cause the eventual world-wi...

The only letter that differentiates the words WORD and WORLD is the letter “L” , so the question is what does the “L” stand for? And the answer is LIE. When God spoke and “The Universe Was Created by the WORD of God” (Hebrews 11:3) it was perfect and without error or evi L . While God’s nature is TRUTH, and “No lie is of the truth” (1 John 2:21) Satan’s nature is the opposite of truth and “The Father Of Lies.” (John 8:44) When creation fell in the Garden of Eden, the “L” was added to God’s Word and the WORD became WOR L D . While God designed us to L ive, Satan seeks to reverse God’s good BACKWARDS and transforms it to E vil . To live in the pleasures of the world without regard for your maker or eternity is to live life backwards and to live in evil. Friend, if you are caught up in the ways of the world - “the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and...
Ask most people and they would agree to believe that: Most people are good, not bad Good usually triumphs over evil Murder is wrong While perhaps there are many other things that we can agree on, one difficult event for most people to believe in or accept is that Jesus Christ conquered death and rose from the grave — and this is where Jesus’ question in today’s verse in John chapter eleven is a point of contention and controversy. In fact, the entire New Testament hangs on this fact, that if Christ did NOT rise from the dead, then the entire message of the Gospel — redemption from sin and death, and eternal life — are a silly and senseless point. In fact the Apostle Paul said this precisely in 1 Corinthians 15:19 that “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” Or to put it another way, the entire Christian life is meaningless and futile unless what Christ did on the cross and conquering death in resurrection was FACT instead...
