When reading the entire passage of today’s scripture of the “The Parable of the Talents” God is The Master portrayed as a businessman who delegates instructions to his stewards promising rewards in proportion to their faithfulness and productivity, but also giving a stern warning of punishment for those that ignore his instructions. The master would not have entrusted his possessions to the stewards if he didn’t trust them, which follows suit that God gives people an opportunity to partner with them and receive a reward for those that are faithful.

A major lesson in this allegory is that 'The 'Master' WILL RETURN and when he does for those that are faithful he will say, “Well done thou good and faithful servant. Because you were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things.” Like those servants, God sees us as partners in his enterprise to do his will, but as the third servant did nothing, even insulting the master as being selfish and greedy, his 'reward' - and those of that ilk - will be banishment from God and His Kingdom.

Friend, for those that are diligent and faithful we are more than just 'stewards' but more so are “heirs also, heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ(!)” (Romans 8:17). This parable illuminates this reality for us that God wants us to multiply the gifts He gives us, and to partner with him to enlarge His Kingdom here on earth.
